Seven Killings feeding Resource: it starts with a weak Day Master

FateClear Editorial · Updated 2026-10-17

Seven Killings feeding Resource (sha yin xiang sheng) is a chain: Seven Killings, the element that controls the Day Master with the same polarity, produces Resource, and Resource produces the Day Master. The pressure never lands directly; it goes round and arrives as support. That's only good news for a weak Day Master. A strong one doesn't need the extra layer.

Data: on either side of the strength line, Resource plays opposite roles

Leaving out special patterns, 503 of 2,000 charts (25.1%) have Seven Killings on a stem; 54.9% weak, 45.1% strong. 207 charts (10.3%) show Killings and Resource both on stems, 56.5% of them weak.

The 192 weak charts with Killings on a stem and Resource present (9.6% of all) list Resource as useful or favorable 100% of the time: 80.2% take Resource as the Useful God, 19.8% Peers, and 76.6% also hold output. Of the 84 weak ones without Resource, 88.1% still take Resource as the Useful God.

Of the 184 strong ones with Resource, 72.8% list Resource as unfavorable, while 94.7% of strong Killings charts have Killings favorable. Separately, 13 of the 2,000 charts follow the Killings outright and aren't read this way.

Statistics: 2,000 birth times (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time). “Resource present” means Direct or Indirect Resource on the year, month or hour stem, or as main qi of any branch.

How does the feeding work?

Killings feed Resource, Resource feeds you: the force takes a detour. Seven Killings control the Day Master, which is pressure. But their element happens to produce Resource, and Resource produces the Day Master. For a Ding Fire Day Master, Gui Water is Killings and Yi Wood is Resource: Water feeds Wood, Wood feeds Fire, and the pressure is relayed into support.

For the relay to work you need Killings with real weight, ideally on a stem; Resource that can catch them, next to them or rooted in a branch; and a weak Day Master that wants the help. Having both somewhere in the chart isn't enough.

Why isn't it a good pattern for a strong chart?

A strong Day Master isn't short of support, so more Resource is a burden. When you're already strong, Killings burn off the surplus and are often the Useful God. Converting them into Resource takes away useful pressure and tops you up again.

In our data, strong charts with Killings on a stem had them favorable 94.7% of the time. Of the 184 that also contained Resource, 72.8% listed Resource as unfavorable. So when you hear this pattern's name, ask first: strong or weak?

Killings feeding Resource, or Eating God controlling Killings?

When weak, convert first; don't rush to control. Eating God, what the Day Master produces with the same polarity, can also deal with Killings by attacking them. But Eating God drains the Day Master too, so a weak chart that relies on it blocks pressure while losing more energy. Resource converts the pressure and feeds you at the same time.

The data leans the same way: among 84 weak charts with Killings on a stem and no Resource, 88.1% had output available, yet 88.1% still took Resource as the Useful God. When Killings are very heavy, converting and controlling can work together; the Seven Killings article covers Eating God control in detail.

No Resource in the chart?

Wait for it in luck, and build support in life. If the natal chart has no Resource, watch for when luck cycles and years bring it; that's when the pressure has somewhere to go. In the years without it, a Peer cycle that props you up is steadier than fighting the Killings head-on.

In daily terms Resource maps to study, credentials, elders and platforms that hold you up. In high-pressure stretches, building those supports first suits this kind of chart better than simply gritting your teeth.

Two real charts

Yi Chou · Gui Wei · Ding Mao · Xin Hai (male, 27 Jul 1985, 22:30, Beijing)

Ding Fire born in a Wei month. The month is Earth, which Ding produces, so it doesn't support; we rate it weak (support 2.63, pressure 4.37). Gui Water on the month stem is Seven Killings, Yi Wood on the year stem is Indirect Resource, the Mao day branch is Indirect Resource too, and the Hai hour branch holds Direct Officer.

That's the full chain: Gui Killings sit next to Yi Wood, Water feeds Wood; Mao Wood sits right under Ding, Wood feeds Fire. Wood (Resource) is the Useful God, Fire favorable, Earth and Metal unfavorable. Water, the Killings, isn't on the unfavorable list either; in this chart it's where the support starts. Hai, Mao and Wei can also gather into a Wood frame, concentrating Resource; we treat that as supporting evidence rather than rescoring. Reading: plenty of outside demands, often turned into learning, growth and help from mentors. Heavy Metal and Earth years break Resource and drain the Day Master; move steadily then.

Gui You · Yi Mao · Ding Wei · Yi Si (male, 27 Mar 1993, 10:30, Beijing)

Ding Fire with Gui Water Seven Killings on the year stem, two Yi Wood Indirect Resource on the month and hour stems, and the Mao month branch also Resource. It looks like the chain: Gui feeds Yi, Yi feeds Ding. But the month's main qi is Resource, so by our rule the chart is strong (support 5, pressure 2).

So the reading flips: Metal (Wealth) is useful, Water and Earth favorable, Wood unfavorable. Wood, the Resource, is already too much; the Gui Killings become a favorable that keeps an over-strong Day Master in line. The You Metal year branch, which cuts Wood and feeds Water, is the most valuable character here. The same “Killings feed Resource, Resource feeds you” just overfills this chart; in heavy Wood years, watch for thinking a lot and doing little.

FAQ

Does this pattern mean I'm headed for government or a high post?

Older readings tie it to officialdom because Killings stand for pressure and rules, and Resource for credentials and platforms. A fairer reading: you're suited to turning pressure into growth inside structured environments. What you actually do depends on your favorables and real circumstances.

I'm a woman with this pattern. What does it say about my partner?

Killings do relate to partners in a woman's chart; this pattern just says pressure in that relationship has a way to turn into support. What your partner is like and how things go depend on the day branch, the luck cycles and how you two get along.

I'm strong and have both Killings and Resource. Is that this pattern?

It looks similar but isn't read that way. For strong charts Killings are often useful and Resource usually unfavorable; 72.8% of such charts in our data list Resource as unfavorable. Ask instead whether your Killings are being put to good use.

What happens in a Wealth luck cycle?

Wealth attacks Resource and feeds Killings, removing the converter while raising the pressure, so these years are often described as harder. Roots and yearly support still matter, so it isn't a blanket verdict.
