About & method
FateClear is a tool for explaining Chinese metaphysics and astrology clearly and in plain language. Here is what we rely on, how we check our work and where the limits are.
Who we are
FateClear was started by a long-time student of BaZi. Our BaZi approach comes from the lineage he trained in, built around the Qing-dynasty classic Mingli Yueyan (命理约言). Design, calculation and writing are done by the founder together with collaborators.
Sources
BaZi: Mingli Yueyan, with modern commentaries such as Wei Qianli’s.
Zi Wei Dou Shu: the rules of the open-source iztro library and the standard fourteen-star system.
Western astrology: mainstream modern interpretations; Placidus houses by default.
Vedic astrology: the Parashara system as set out in English translations of the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS); Lahiri ayanamsa.
Plum Blossom I Ching: the received Mei Hua Yi Shu and the original Zhou Yi.
Tarot: the Rider–Waite–Smith deck (public-domain images) and the course our founder studied.
How calculations are verified
Solar terms and planetary positions are computed from an astronomical ephemeris and covered by automated tests. BaZi pillars and luck cycles have been compared with several established chart programs; Zi Wei charts are checked item by item against iztro; Western charts against professional software on public birth data; Vedic charts on 13 birth records, with planets within one arc-second and every sign, house, nakshatra and dasha date matching. The tests run again on every release.
How we write readings
Every judgment names its source. Traditional sayings are reported honestly, but absolute or frightening phrasing is softened. We make no firm claims about health, money or legal matters. Charts are calculated in your browser, so your birth data does not need to be uploaded.
