How Vedic astrology differs
Jyotish uses the same astronomy as Western astrology but measures positions against the fixed stars (the sidereal zodiac) with the Lahiri ayanamsa, so for most people each planet moves back by about one sign.
It gives special weight to the Moon’s nakshatra, one of 27 lunar mansions, and divides life into Vimshottari dasha periods ruled by the nine grahas. The dashas are the most practical and distinctive part of the system.
How we build the chart
The chart follows the mainstream system of the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS): nine grahas including Rahu and Ketu, twelve houses and their lords, exaltation and debilitation, the D1 birth chart and D9 Navamsa, and common yogas such as Raja, Gajakesari and Ruchaka.
We verified the calculations on 13 birth records against professional ephemeris software: planetary positions agree to within one arc-second, and signs, houses, nakshatras and dasha dates match exactly.
A note on the readings
Interpretations are drawn from English translations of the classics and are still being reviewed by an experienced astrologer. Treat them as cultural reference, not prediction.
