What BaZi shows you
BaZi, literally “eight characters”, turns the moment of your birth into four pairs of Chinese calendar signs: one Heavenly Stem and one Earthly Branch each for the year, month, day and hour. The stem of the day pillar is your Day Master (日主, rì zhǔ). It stands for you, and the way the other seven characters support or challenge it is the backbone of the whole chart.
A full chart covers the four pillars with their hidden stems, the Ten Gods (the roles other elements play relative to you), the strength of each of the Five Elements, the elements that tend to help or strain you, and the 10-year Luck Pillars with notes for each year. The ten Day Masters on our home page are portraits of the ten stems, from Jia Wood to Gui Water.
How we calculate it
Birth time is converted to true solar time from the longitude of your birthplace, and the boundaries of the 24 solar terms are computed astronomically to the minute, so births near midnight or a seasonal change come out right.
Our interpretive approach follows the classical Qing-dynasty text Mingli Yueyan (命理约言, “Concise Words on Destiny”) as taught in our founder’s lineage. Every judgment cites the rule it comes from.
How to read the results
BaZi is a traditional way of thinking about the rhythm of a life. Use it for reflection and planning, not as a verdict. For health, money or legal decisions, please rely on qualified professionals.
