Heavy Wealth, weak Day Master: support first, money second

FateClear Editorial · Updated 2026-10-17

Heavy Wealth with a weak Day Master (cai duo shen ruo) means the element the Day Master controls carries most of the chart's weight while the Day Master itself is weak. Picture someone of modest strength handed far more than they can carry: the goods are there, but holding on to them is the problem. The fix is backup for the Day Master, usually Peers first, elements the same as the Day Master. Resource, the element that produces it, often comes second because Wealth attacks it.

Data: how common is it, and what's the usual Useful God?

Using “Wealth at 3+ points”, 143 of 2,000 charts (7.2%) are Wealth-heavy. The spread of Wealth weight: 0–1 point 34.4%, 1–2 39.1%, 2–3 19.4%, 3–4 6.1%, 4+ 1.1%.

Of those 143, 80.4% are weak and 19.6% strong; 16 are rootless enough to follow Wealth. Excluding special patterns, 94 charts (4.7% of all) are ordinary heavy-Wealth weak charts: 62.8% take Peers as the Useful God, 37.2% Resource. Wealth is unfavorable in 94.7%, and Peers are useful or favorable in every one.

87.2% of those 94 contain Resource, yet 68.3% of them still choose Peers; 40.4% also carry Officer/Killings worth at least 1 point, and in 87.2% the month itself is Wealth. Among strong heavy-Wealth charts, Wealth is favorable in 92.9%.

Statistics: 2,000 birth times (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time). Points follow our strength scoring: year stem and branch 0.5 each, month branch 2, others 1, day stem excluded, hidden stems split 6:3:1.

Two real charts

Yi Si · Ren Wu · Ren Xu · Ding Wei (female, 7 Jul 1965, 14:00, Beijing)

Ren Water born in a Wu month, when Fire peaks. The Wu month branch, the Si year branch and Ding on the hour are all Wealth, while the Xu day branch and Wei hour branch are Officer and Killings. By weight, Wealth holds 3.03 points and Officer/Killings 1.92, against 1.45 helping Ren. We rate it weak (support 1.45, pressure 5.55): textbook heavy Wealth, with pressure on top.

The Useful God is Water, meaning the Ren Companion on the month stem; Metal is favorable, Fire and Wood unfavorable. Why not lead with Resource? Resource is Metal, only a trace hidden in Si and Xu, and in a fiery summer any Metal that shows up gets melted. So Peers carry the chart. Reading: lots of opportunity and responsibility, easily tiring, easily pulled around by money. Water and Metal luck holds things better; in heavy Fire and Wood years, pull back a little.

Ji Wei · Xin Wei · Jia Chen · Jia Xu (male, 5 Aug 1979, 20:45, Beijing)

Jia Wood born in a Wei month. All four branches, Wei, Wei, Chen and Xu, are Earth, and Ji Earth on the year stem is Direct Wealth: 3.2 points of Wealth. Xin Metal on the month stem is Direct Officer, 1.3 points. We rate it weak (support 1.65, pressure 5.35).

Unlike the first chart, this one takes Water (Resource) as the Useful God, with Wood favorable and Earth unfavorable. Two reasons: Xin Officer sits on the month stem, so Wealth feeds Officer and Officer leans on Jia, and Resource is needed to turn that into support; and in late summer the Earth is dry and the Wood parched, so Water is wanted for moisture too. The natal chart has only a trace of Gui Water hidden in Chen, so Water luck is when it truly connects. Reading: many tasks and responsibilities, best carried with study, qualifications and mentors; in heavy Earth years, defend rather than attack.

When is Wealth heavy?

It's about weight, not the number of Wealth characters. Two Wealth characters can differ several-fold depending on where they sit. We use the same scoring as for strength: year stem and branch 0.5 each, month branch 2, the others 1, day stem not counted, hidden stems in a branch split 6:3:1. That's 7 points in all, and Wealth needs 3 or more to count as heavy.

By that measure heavy Wealth is uncommon: 7.2% of 2,000 charts. Plenty of people online describe themselves this way when their chart simply has two or three Wealth characters with nowhere near that weight.

Why Peers before Resource?

Because Wealth beats Resource. Resource feeding the Day Master sounds like the obvious cure, but Wealth controls Resource, and with heavy Wealth around, Resource gets pinned the moment it appears. Peers are the Day Master's own kind; Wealth can't control them, so they stand right beside you, supporting you and sharing the load.

So the Peers here are helpers, not wealth thieves. In our heavy-Wealth weak charts, 87.2% actually contain some Resource, yet 68.3% of those still take Peers as the Useful God.

Heavy Wealth, weak, and Officer/Killings too?

The load doubles, and the reading has to change. Wealth produces Officer and Killings, the elements that control the Day Master. A weak chart already straining under Wealth now has that Wealth feeding the pressure on it. That's 40.4% of heavy-Wealth weak charts.

Here Resource earns its place: Officer feeds Resource, Resource feeds you, and the chain from Wealth to Officer to Resource to Day Master turns pressure into support. Peers still help, but shouldn't collide head-on with Officer. Which comes first depends on the month and on how rooted Resource is.

Does it mean a life of being broke?

No. It means “can't carry it all”, not “has nothing”. People with this pattern often handle plenty of opportunities, money and responsibilities; the hard part is holding on and digesting them. Peer or Resource luck cycles are often when they can finally keep hold.

Two neighbours need separating. Heavy Wealth with a rooted Day Master and a supportive month reads as strong, and then Wealth is a blessing; that's 19.6% of heavy-Wealth charts. A completely rootless Day Master facing huge Wealth may instead follow the Wealth, covered in the article on follow patterns.

FAQ

With heavy Wealth and a weak Day Master, will I never manage to save?

Not necessarily. The pattern suggests that money and obligations easily exceed what you can comfortably handle, so “lots in, little kept” is more common. Peer or Resource luck, or a reliable partner, can change that. Finances shouldn't be judged on one structure.

I'm a man with this pattern. Does it mean marriage trouble?

Older texts link Wealth with the wife, hence the worry. But this pattern is first about capacity. Marriage depends on the day branch, the luck cycles and how two people get along; no single factor decides it.

Should I start my own business or keep a job?

The general idea is not to carry everything alone. Partners, a team or a platform that shares the risk usually suits better than going solo. That's a tendency; your field and circumstances matter.

Will a Peer luck cycle make me lose money?

For this pattern, Peers are usually helpers that take on what you can't carry, so “Rob Wealth steals money” doesn't apply as is. The outcome depends on the natal chart and the year in question.
