Heavenly Pardon (Tian She): a day pillar plus a season, and why the label is not a blessing
Heavenly Pardon (Tian She) is a spirit star that looks only at the day pillar, and the day pillar must also match the season. Spring, the Yin, Mao and Chen months, needs a Wu Yin day. Summer, the Si, Wu and Wei months, needs Jia Wu. Autumn, the Shen, You and Xu months, needs Wu Shen. Winter, the Hai, Zi and Chou months, needs Jia Zi. The season is read from the solar-term month, which is the month branch, not from the lunar or Gregorian calendar. Our site lists it in the “Symbolic Stars lookup” section, as an image only, outside strength and favorability. Traditionally it is treated as an auspicious pardoning star, and almanacs use the same lookup for a “Heavenly Pardon day.”

Two real charts
Xin Hai (辛亥) · Geng Yin (庚寅) · Wu Yin (戊寅) · Bing Chen (丙辰) (female, Feb 22, 1971, 09:15, Beijing)
This is a real Heavenly Pardon chart, and it is still a weak one. True solar time was 08:46. The day pillar is Wu Yin and the birth is in a Yin month, so the spring condition is met. The Day Master is Wu Earth, born in a Yin month; the main qi of Yin is Jia Wood, Seven Killings. The stems are Xin Hurting Officer, Geng Eating God and Bing Indirect Resource. The branches are Hai Indirect Wealth, Yin Seven Killings, Yin Seven Killings and Chen Companion.
The scoring gives Officer/Killings 2.27, Resource 1.9, Output 1.5, Companions 0.9 and Wealth 0.43, and the chart is weak (support 2.8, pressure 4.2). Useful element Fire (Resource), favorable Earth, unfavorable Metal and Water. Early spring is cold, so Fire is also the climate adjustment.
The Heavenly Pardon day pillar is Wu Earth sitting on Yin Wood, Seven Killings, and the month branch is Yin again, so two Seven Killings press the Day Master. The need is Fire to transform the Killings and feed Wu Earth. The marker does not change that conclusion; it only confirms which day pillar the birth fell on.
Gui Hai (癸亥) · Xin You (辛酉) · Wu Shen (戊申) · Ren Xu (壬戌) (male, Sep 17, 1983, 19:45, Beijing)
This Heavenly Pardon chart drains even harder: the day pillar sits on Eating God and the month on Hurting Officer. True solar time was 19:37. The day pillar is Wu Shen and the birth is in a You month, so the autumn condition is met. The Day Master is Wu Earth, born in a You month; the main qi of You is Xin Metal, Hurting Officer. The stems are Gui Direct Wealth, Xin Hurting Officer and Ren Indirect Wealth. The branches are Hai Indirect Wealth, You Hurting Officer, Shen Eating God and Xu Companion; Shen, You and Xu form a three-way meeting.
The scoring gives Output 3.9, Wealth 2.13, Companions 0.7, Officer/Killings 0.17 and Resource 0.1, and the chart is weak (support 0.8, pressure 6.2). Useful element Fire (Resource), favorable Earth, unfavorable Metal and Wood.
The Day Master sits on Shen Metal, Eating God, the month branch is You Metal, Hurting Officer, and the three-way meeting adds more Metal, so Output at 3.9 drains Wu Earth very weak. The two Water Wealth stems then consume more. Fire is the Useful element, but the chart has almost no Resource at 0.1, so it waits for luck cycles and years that bring Fire. Heavenly Pardon cannot supply the Fire.
The rule: the day pillar and the season must both match
Heavenly Pardon is a day-pillar lookup with a season attached, and a near miss does not count. Spring is the Yin, Mao and Chen months and needs a Wu Yin day. Summer is Si, Wu and Wei and needs Jia Wu. Autumn is Shen, You and Xu and needs Wu Shen. Winter is Hai, Zi and Chou and needs Jia Zi.
The season is read from the solar-term month, which is the month branch, not from the lunar or Gregorian calendar. A Wu Yin day in a summer month is not Heavenly Pardon. Our site lists the result in the “Symbolic Stars lookup” section, as an image only.
Three of the four day pillars sit on control or drain
The four qualifying day pillars are not built on support. Wu Yin is Wu Earth sitting on Yin Wood, Seven Killings. Jia Wu is Jia Wood sitting on Wu Fire, Hurting Officer. Wu Shen is Wu Earth sitting on Shen Metal, Eating God. Jia Zi is Jia Wood sitting on Zi Water, Direct Resource.
Three of the four put the Day Master on an element that controls it or drains it, and only Jia Zi sits on Resource. So “Heavenly Pardon means a strong, blessed chart” does not follow from the construction. The label describes a date, not a balance.
Why only 28 charts in 2,000
The day pillar alone is not enough, and many charts have the right day in the wrong season. The four day pillars matched the season in 28 charts, and 99 more had one of the four but were born outside the matching season and do not count. The true count was 28 charts, 1.4%.
That is slightly below the 1.67% you would expect if the four day pillars were spread evenly through the sixty-day cycle. The gap is random fluctuation. Within the 28, Wu Yin had 9, Wu Shen 8, Jia Wu 7 and Jia Zi 4; those counts are too small to compare.
It stays outside strength and favorability
We do not let Heavenly Pardon move the strength score or the favorable and unfavorable lists. Strength comes from the month command, the stems and branches and the hidden stems. A date marker is read after that, as an image.
Of the 28 charts, 64.3% were strong and 35.7% weak; among the other 1,972 charts, 46.5% were strong and 53.3% weak. The Heavenly Pardon group looks stronger, but 28 charts is far too few to make that a rule. We can say we did not see these charts come out weaker; we cannot say the marker makes anyone stronger.
The Heavenly Pardon days in late 2026 and in 2027
The almanac uses the same day-pillar and season rule, so the days are sparse. From November 2026 to the end of that year there is one: December 16, a Jia Zi day. In 2027 there are six: February 28 and April 29 (Wu Yin), May 15 and July 14 (Jia Wu), September 26 (Wu Shen), and December 11 (Jia Zi).
The date is judged by that day's day pillar and the solar-term month it falls in. For anyone born after 11 p.m., the day pillar follows the chart result rather than the calendar date. Our site only covers the BaZi marker; almanac lists of lucky and unlucky activities are a separate tradition.
Common mistakes
- Heavenly Pardon means a blessed life: it is a day-pillar and season match; only 28 charts (1.4%) qualified, and the group is too small to claim an outcome.
- The Heavenly Pardon day pillar is strong by itself: three of the four sit on control or drain, and only Jia Zi sits on Direct Resource.
- A Heavenly Pardon day is lucky for marriage, contracts or moving: our site covers only the BaZi marker; almanac advice varies, and practical arrangements matter more.
- Heavenly Pardon can cancel a lawsuit or a Tai Sui year: no single marker does that; real legal or personal problems need real-world help.
Data: how often the day and season actually match
Only 28 of the 2,000 charts, 1.4%, met both the day-pillar and season conditions. The sixty-day cycle would suggest 1.67%, so the small gap is random fluctuation. Within the 28, Wu Yin had 9, Wu Shen 8, Jia Wu 7 and Jia Zi 4.
The day pillars are common; the season match is what makes the group small. The four day pillars matched the season in 28 charts, and 99 more had one of the four in the wrong season and do not count. Our site's “Symbolic Stars lookup” uses this same day-pillar and season rule.
On strength, the 28 charts were 64.3% strong and 35.7% weak, against 46.5% strong and 53.3% weak among the other 1,972. The difference is interesting but the group is too small to treat as a finding. We do not use the marker in the strength score or in the favorable and unfavorable lists.
The 2026 and 2027 dates follow the same lookup. From November 2026 to year end there is one, December 16 (Jia Zi). In 2027 there are six: February 28 (Wu Yin), April 29 (Wu Yin), May 15 (Jia Wu), July 14 (Jia Wu), September 26 (Wu Shen) and December 11 (Jia Zi).
Simulated charts: our BaZi calculator generated 2,000 random birth times (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time), cast each chart and judged strength and the Useful element by traditional rules, then counted the results. These are simulated results, not a survey of real people and not a measure of prediction accuracy. Heavenly Pardon was counted only when the day pillar matched the solar-term season; the four day pillars were also counted outside their season, and strength was compared with the rest of the set. The 2026 and 2027 dates follow the same day-pillar and season rule. Calculation version: our BaZi calculator after the Oct 15, 2026 update (the same rules the site uses now; rechecked with site version v73 on Oct 20, 2026), random seed 20261014. To reproduce: rerun the same version with the same seed and the results match exactly; you can check any single chart by entering the same birth time in our BaZi calculator.
Common view vs. our view
| Common view | Our view | Why |

FAQ
Does having Heavenly Pardon in my BaZi mean a good life and that bad luck always turns good?
No. Heavenly Pardon is a day-pillar lookup that also needs the right season, and we keep it outside strength and favorability. In the 2,000 charts we cast, only 28 (1.4%) qualified, against 1.67% expected from the sixty-day cycle. The group looked stronger, but 28 charts is too small to build a promise on. Read the whole chart and the luck cycles.
What are the 2027 Heavenly Pardon days?
Six in 2027: February 28 and April 29 are Wu Yin days, May 15 and July 14 are Jia Wu days, September 26 is a Wu Shen day and December 11 is a Jia Zi day. Each must also fall in the matching solar-term season, which the almanac rule checks. Dates after 11 p.m. follow the chart result for the day pillar.
Are Heavenly Pardon days good for marriage, registering a company or moving house?
Our site only covers the BaZi marker; we do not issue an almanac of suitable activities. Traditions differ about what a Heavenly Pardon day is good for, and a date cannot guarantee an outcome. For a marriage or a move, the two people's schedules, the practical arrangements and professional advice matter more than one label.
Can Heavenly Pardon dissolve a Tai Sui year or a lawsuit?
No. It is one spirit star and it stays outside strength and favorability. A Tai Sui year is a different traditional topic, and a lawsuit is a legal matter. If you face a real dispute, talk to a qualified lawyer or the relevant professional; do not rely on a chart marker to resolve it.
