What is a Bing Fire Day Master?
Bing is yang Fire among the ten Heavenly Stems: robust and outward, hard to suppress and hard to pull into a combination; reading a Bing chart is about its season and the balance of Fire and Water, not about stretching the “sun” metaphor into a personality type.
At a glance
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Element · polarity | Fire · yang |
| Prosperity branch | Si |
| Birth (growth) branch | Yin |
| Stem relations | Combines with Xin; clashes with Ren |
| Most common issue | Summer birth, too much Fire: Water first |
| Ten Gods for Bing | Jia Indirect Resource, Yi Direct Resource, Ding Rob Wealth, Wu Eating God, Ji Hurting Officer, Geng Indirect Wealth, Xin Direct Wealth, Ren Seven Killings, Gui Direct Officer |
What makes yang Fire different?
The ten stems are five elements, each yang or yin. Bing and Ding are both Fire; the difference is firm versus yielding. Yang stems take control without much damage; yin stems shrug off being drained. Yin stems transform or “follow” easily; yang stems don’t.
So a Bing Day Master rarely becomes a “follow” chart just because Wealth or Officer stars are plentiful. The bar is higher than for yin stems.
Is Bing the sun? How far the metaphor goes
Books call Jia a great tree, Bing the sun, Ding a candle. Fine as memory aids, but not as evidence. Pushed too far, metaphors produce claims like “the sun doesn’t fear water” that don’t survive scrutiny.
Go back to the basics: what produces, controls and drains Bing, and whether whatever controls it is itself kept in check.
Why does summer Bing need Water first?
Born in Si or Wu months, Fire is in command; add Wood and the chart turns hot and dry. Water is what it needs most, Ren Water most directly, with Metal to produce Water as support. Ren is technically Bing’s Seven Killings, proof that a Ten God’s scary name says nothing about whether it helps you.
Is winter Bing always weak?
No. With roots in Yin, Si or Wu and Wood to feed it, a winter Bing can still be strong. Weigh season, allies and seat together.
Data: does summer Bing Fire really need Water?
Our sample has 208 Bing Day Masters. Of the 51 born in summer, 68.6% have Water as the Useful God; the rest usually carry heavy Earth or Metal that shifts the answer.
Of the 56 born in winter, 23.2% are balanced or strong, not weak. Roots in Yin, Si or Wu, or Wood feeding them, keep winter Bing standing.
Sample: 2,000 charts cast with our own engine (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time); fixed seed, fully reproducible.
Two real charts
Jia Zi · Geng Wu · Bing Xu · Jia Wu (male, 21 Jun 1984, 12:00, Changsha)
Bing Fire, born around noon in a Wu month: in season, with two Wu branches and two Jia stems feeding it, sitting on Xu, a dry Fire store. The only Water is a trace of Gui inside the distant Zi year branch. The chart needs Water first, then Metal, and the calculator agrees: Water useful, Metal and Earth favourable, Wood and Fire unfavourable. The luck cycles Xin Wei, Ren Shen, Gui You bring Metal and Water in turn.
Bing Chen · Xin Chou · Bing Yin · Geng Yin (female, 9 Jan 1977, 04:00, Beijing)
Bing Fire is born in Chou, midwinter, out of season. But two Yin branches (Indirect Resource, where Fire is born) and a Bing Peer on the year stem hold it up, so the calculator rates it balanced. With no clear direction from strength, climate decides: winter Bing wants Water to shine against. Water useful, Wood and Fire favourable, no unfavourable element assigned.
Common view vs. our view
| Common view | Our view | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bing is the sun, so Bing people are outgoing | The image is a memory aid; temperament comes from the Ten Gods | Taken literally, images lead to claims like “the sun fears no water” |
| Ren Water (Seven Killings) is bad for Bing | For overheated Bing it is exactly what’s needed | Nearly 7 in 10 summer Bing in our sample use Water |
| Winter Bing is always weak | With roots and Resource it can be balanced or strong | About a quarter of winter Bing in our sample are not weak |
FAQ
What is a Bing Fire woman like?
Online descriptions say warm and direct, but that comes from the Fire image. Two Bing women with different Ten Gods can be very different.
Which colours or careers suit a Bing Day Master?
Go by your favourable elements, not your Day Master: if Water is useful, lean towards Water; if Earth, towards Earth.
Are Bing and Ding compatible?
Compatibility needs both full charts. At Day Master level they are the same element; whether the charts complement each other matters more.
Common mistakes
- Bing is the sun, so Bing people are sunny extroverts: temperament comes from the whole chart, not the stem.
- Ren Water (Seven Killings) is bad for Bing: for an overheated Bing it is exactly what is needed.
- Winter Bing is always weak: roots and Resource change that.
