Companions Seize Wealth (Bi Jie Duo Cai): a strong Day Master, thin Wealth and too many peers
Companions are the element that matches the Day Master: Companion (Bi Jian) and Rob Wealth. Wealth is the element the Day Master controls, standing for money and resources. Companions Seize Wealth (Bi Jie Duo Cai) means the Day Master is already strong, the Companions are numerous, and the little Wealth in the chart is split by the same-side crowd. Our test has three parts: the Day Master is strong, the chart holds Wealth (a Wealth score above 0), and the Companions score is at least twice the Wealth score. When the Day Master is weak, many Companions are helpers, not robbers; that is the opposite of a weak Day Master facing heavy Wealth.

|---|---|---|
| Day Master strength | Strong | The extra force has to be controlled, drained or spent |

Data: how we count Companions Seize Wealth, and what the charts show
The strict test found 312 charts, 15.6%; the looser test found 539, 26.9%. The strict test is a strong Day Master, Wealth above 0 and a Companions score at least twice the Wealth score. The loose test only asks for a Companions score above Wealth.
In the 312 charts the average scores were Companions 2.23 and Wealth 0.6. Wealth was on a stem in 23.4%, so most of these charts hold their Wealth in the branches, small and partly hidden.
The Useful element was Officer/Killings 42.9%, Output 29.5% and Wealth 27.6%. The Wealth element was useful or favorable in 99.4%, while the Companions element was unfavorable in 83.7%; the rest were mostly climate cases where the element was not listed. Officer/Killings appeared in 93.6% of the charts (51.6% on a stem), Output in 92.3% (47.4% on a stem), and no chart had neither.
Rob Wealth was exposed on a stem in 35.6%, and 24% exposed only Companion. In the 142 weak charts with the same high Companions-to-Wealth ratio, the Companions element was useful or favorable in 100%, Resource was Useful in 81.7% and Companions in 18.3%. The comparison is the point: the same ratio helps a weak chart and divides a strong one.
Simulated charts: our BaZi calculator generated 2,000 random birth times (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time), cast each chart and judged strength and the Useful element by traditional rules, then counted the results. These are simulated results, not a survey of real people and not a measure of prediction accuracy. Companions Seize Wealth was counted only when the Day Master was strong, Wealth scored above 0 and the Companions score was at least twice the Wealth score; a looser version and a weak-chart comparison were also tallied. Special structures are excluded. Calculation version: our BaZi calculator after the Oct 15, 2026 update (the same rules the site uses now; rechecked with site version v73 on Oct 20, 2026), random seed 20261014. To reproduce: rerun the same version with the same seed and the results match exactly; you can check any single chart by entering the same birth time in our BaZi calculator.
The test is strength plus a thin Wealth plus a crowd of peers
Companions Seize Wealth is not “I have Rob Wealth, so my money leaks.” It is a balance problem with three conditions. The Day Master must be strong, the chart must contain Wealth, and the Companions score must be at least twice the Wealth score. Miss the strength condition and the same characters tell a different story.
In the 2,000 charts we cast, 312 met the strict test, 15.6%. A looser version, “strong, Wealth present, Companions score above Wealth score,” reached 539 charts, 26.9%. The strict count is the one we use when we name the pattern.
Weak Day Master, many peers: that is help, not robbery
The same Companion crowd can be a burden or a lifeline, and strength decides which. A weak Day Master short of support needs Companions; they stand in for the Day Master's own force. A strong Day Master already has enough of that force, so more peers divide the Wealth instead of adding to it.
We found 142 weak charts where Wealth was present and the Companions score was still at least twice the Wealth score. In those, the Companions element was useful or favorable in 100%, the Useful element was Resource in 81.7% and Companions in 18.3%. Same ratio, opposite reading. “Many Companions” by itself says nothing about money.
How to read it: govern the peers first, then route their force into Wealth
Officer and Killings come first because they can govern the Companions, and Output comes second because it can convert the Companions into Wealth. Officer/Killings is rules and restraint; it gathers the crowd and points it in one direction. Output drains the Day Master, and since Wealth is what Output produces, a bridge forms: Companions → Output → Wealth. That is how a clash becomes a generating chain.
Wealth itself is favorable in these charts, but Wealth alone cannot stop the peers. Something has to control the same-side force or carry it across. Which of the two comes first depends on whether Officer/Killings or Output has more force in the chart. The chart rarely lacks both, as the data below shows; the question is whether either one is strong enough to work.
What the 312 charts look like: a thin Wealth, not an empty one
The average scores in the 312 charts were Companions 2.23 and Wealth 0.6. The Wealth is small but present, which is why the pattern is about division rather than total absence. Wealth appeared on a stem in only 23.4% of these charts; in most, it stayed hidden in the branches.
Officer/Killings appeared in 93.6% of the 312 charts, with 51.6% exposing it on a stem; Output appeared in 92.3%, with 47.4% on a stem; no chart had neither. Almost every seizing chart carries a built-in way to handle the peers. The useful elements were Officer/Killings 42.9%, Output 29.5% and Wealth 27.6%.
Rob Wealth was on a stem in 35.6% of the charts, while 24% exposed only Companion and no Rob Wealth. Companion divides Wealth just as readily. The name “Rob Wealth” makes the other half easy to overlook.
Favorability follows strength, not the name of the pattern
In the 312 charts, the Wealth element was useful or favorable in 99.4% and the Companions element was unfavorable in 83.7%. The remaining Companion cases were mostly charts where the climate needed that element, so it was not listed as unfavorable. That is our rule: climate adjustment never turns a needed element into an unfavorable one.
A chart can meet the test and still have a workable life. The pattern says the same-side force is heavy relative to Wealth; it does not say friends will cheat you or that savings are impossible. Read the Officer/Killings and Output that come with it, then look at the luck cycles.
Two real charts
Yi Chou (乙丑) · Ji Chou (己丑) · Ji Si (己巳) · Jia Xu (甲戌) (male, Jan 25, 1986, 20:00, Beijing)
This chart controls the peer crowd with Officer and Killings, so the little Wealth is protected. True solar time was 19:33. The birth came before the 1986 Start of Spring, so the year pillar is still Yi Chou. The Day Master is Ji Earth, born in a Chou month; the main qi of Chou is Ji Earth, Companion, so the month command supports the Day Master. The stems are Yi Seven Killings, Ji Companion and Jia Direct Officer.
The branches are Chou Companion, Chou Companion, Si Direct Resource and Xu Rob Wealth. The scoring gives Companions 3.2, Officer/Killings 1.5, Output 0.85, Wealth 0.75 and Resource 0.7, and the chart is strong (month support; support 3.9, pressure 3.1). Companions at 3.2 is more than four times Wealth at 0.75, and the Wealth element, Water, is hidden only in the two Chou branches.
Useful element Wood (Officer/Killings), favorable Metal and Water, unfavorable Earth. Born at the end of winter, the climate would like Fire; Fire is Resource, so by support and drain it is not the Useful element, but it is not listed as unfavorable either, and a small amount does no harm. The reading is direct: Yi on the year stem and Jia on the hour stem expose two Officer/Killings characters to govern the earth, and that is what keeps the Wealth.
Yi Chou (乙丑) · Xin Si (辛巳) · Geng Shen (庚申) · Bing Xu (丙戌) (female, May 21, 1985, 19:30, Beijing)
This chart uses Output as the bridge: Water drains the metal peers and feeds the Wood Wealth. True solar time was 19:19, and the Grain Buds solar term had passed at 10:42 that morning. The Day Master is Geng Metal, born in a Si month; the main qi of Si is Bing Fire, Seven Killings. The stems are Yi Direct Wealth on the year, Xin Rob Wealth on the month and Bing Seven Killings on the hour.
The branches are Chou Direct Resource, Si Seven Killings, Shen Companion and Xu Indirect Resource. The scoring gives Companions 2.55, Officer/Killings 2.3, Resource 1.2, Wealth 0.5 and Output 0.45, and the chart is strong (support 3.75, pressure 3.25). Useful element Water (Output), favorable Fire and Wood, unfavorable Metal and Earth.
Officer/Killings already score 2.3, and early summer is dry, so adding Fire helps less than Water first. Water drains Metal, generates Wood and moves the Companion force toward Wealth, while also easing the dryness. The year stem Yi Direct Wealth sits right beside the month stem Xin Rob Wealth, which is the most direct picture of Rob Wealth controlling Wealth.
Common mistakes
- Companions Seize Wealth means a lifetime of no savings: it is a balance pattern; 312 charts (15.6%) met the test, and almost all carried Officer/Killings or Output to work with it.
- Only Rob Wealth can seize Wealth: Companion divides Wealth too; in the 312 charts, 24% exposed only Companion and no Rob Wealth.
- Many Companions always mean lost money: in 142 weak charts with the same high ratio, the Companions element was helpful 100% of the time.
- The fix is simply to add Wealth: Wealth was favorable in 99.4% of the 312 charts, but Officer/Killings and Output were the useful directions more often, because Wealth alone cannot govern the peers.
Common view vs. our view
| Common view | Our view | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Companions Seize Wealth means you can never save money | It is a balance pattern, not a life sentence | Only 15.6% met the strict test, and 93.6% of those had Officer/Killings while 92.3% had Output, so the chart usually carries a way to handle it |
| Only Rob Wealth seizes Wealth; Companion is harmless | Companion divides Wealth too | Among the 312 charts, 35.6% exposed Rob Wealth and 24% exposed only Companion |
| More Companions always means lost money | When the Day Master is weak, Companions are helpers | In 142 weak charts with the same high ratio, the Companions element was useful or favorable 100% and Resource was Useful 81.7% |
| Wealth is the answer, so just chase Wealth | Officer/Killings and Output come first | Officer/Killings was Useful 42.9% and Output 29.5%, against Wealth 27.6%; Wealth was favorable 99.4% but cannot hold the peers back alone |
FAQ
Is Companions Seize Wealth why I can't save money?
It can be part of the picture, but it is not a full explanation. The strict pattern requires a strong Day Master, Wealth in the chart and a Companions score at least twice the Wealth score; 15.6% of the 2,000 charts met it. Even then, 93.6% had Officer/Killings and 92.3% had Output, so the chart usually has a way to handle the peers. Saving also depends on income, habits and real decisions.
Is Companions Seize Wealth good or bad for going into business with friends?
Not automatically bad, but it is worth care. If Officer/Killings or Output has force, the peer energy can be governed or routed into Wealth, and a partnership can work. If not, the same-side crowd may divide the returns. Look at the whole chart and, just as important, at the actual agreement, roles and money rules between you.
If a woman has Companions Seize Wealth, will her husband be taken away?
No such rule. In a male chart Wealth is often read as the spouse star, but in a female chart the spouse star is Officer, so Wealth is not the husband star. A marriage cannot be judged from one structure; the whole chart, the two people and their real choices matter. Do not let a phrase create fear about a relationship.
Does a Companions luck cycle always mean losing money?
Not always. A Companions cycle does bring more of the same-side element, and in the 312 charts the Companions element was unfavorable 83.7% of the time; the rest were mostly climate cases. Whether money actually goes depends on whether Wealth is favorable in your chart and whether Officer/Killings or Output has force in that cycle. Treat it as a time to watch spending and partnerships, not as a fixed loss.
