Geng Metal Day Master: what it is and how to read it
Geng is Yang Metal: hard and in need of forging, it takes Fire when strong and Earth when weak. To read a Geng Day Master, check whether autumn has made it too strong or summer Fire has left it weak, then choose Fire, Earth or Water. Climate is only a repair.

What does Geng’s hardness mean?
Yang Metal resists: Geng stands up to Fire and rarely follows, so the bar for a follow pattern is higher than for Xin.
Geng’s Lu is Shen and its Growth stage is Si; it combines with Yi and clashes with Jia. Jia is its Indirect Wealth, so the clash often reads as friction over money.
Autumn Geng: over 90% strong
In Shen, You and Xu months Metal rules: 94.5% of autumn Geng charts are strong, none weak. Strong Metal needs control or draining: Fire (Officer) 55.9%, Wood (Wealth) 29%, Water (output) 15.2%.
Adding Earth or Metal here only makes it stiffer.
Why does summer Geng take Earth, not Water?
Summer Fire controls Metal: 62.7% of summer Geng are weak, 53.6% take Earth, only 9.2% Water. Weak Geng first needs Resource (Earth) to turn Fire into support; Water cools but drains weak Metal further.
That is strength leading: climate seems to call for Water, strength calls for Earth first.

Geng is born in Wei, late summer; Wu and Ding control it and Yi Mao and Gui drain it, but Wei and Chou earth feed it, so the chart is balanced. With no clear strength direction, climate repair decides: the calculator uses Fire, favours Wood and Metal and names no unfavourable element.

Of 153 born in summer, 62.7% are weak: Earth 53.6%, Fire 21.6%, Water only 9.2%. Only 2.4% of Geng charts are special patterns, the lowest of all stems: Yang Metal rarely follows.
