Yang Blade in BaZi: Day-stem table lookup — not month-command Blade, not Flying Blade

FateClear Editorial · Updated 2026-10-23

Yang Blade (the traditional “peak” branch keyed from the day stem) is a shensha mark (a table label from stems and branches). This site uses: Jia→Mao, Yi→Chen, Bing/Wu→Wu, Ding/Ji→Wei, Geng→You, Xin→Xu, Ren→Zi, Gui→Chou; it checks only year, month and hour branches, not the day branch. For yin stems it keeps Chen/Wei/Xu/Chou (traditional list), not the reverse-yin school. It does not enter strength or Useful-god scoring.

YunYang Blade is a day-stem table mark on year/month/hour — not month-command Blade, not Flying Blade.

How to look it up

Memorize the table, then scan three branches. Jia–Mao, Yi–Chen, Bing/Wu–Wu, Ding/Ji–Wei, Geng–You, Xin–Xu, Ren–Zi, Gui–Chou. Only year, month and hour count; a day-branch match is not recorded as Yang Blade here.

Yin stems use Chen/Wei/Xu/Chou on this site. Other schools reverse yin Blades; a mismatch is usually a school difference, not a broken chart.

Hits skew strong — strong is not the same as favorable

461 / 2000 charts hit (23.1%). Of hits, 65.9% are strong and 34.1% weak — same direction as “Blade means peak,” but one-third are still weak.

The hit branch’s element is unfavorable in 57.4% of hit points, favorable in only 20.3%. The hidden stem is most often Rob Wealth (39.8%). When strong, peers are often pressed; when weak, peers often help.

Month Blade, day-branch Blade, Flying Blade — keep them apart

The Jie Cai article’s “month-command Blade” is a yang Day Master born in a Rob-Wealth month. That case is only 81 charts (4%); any month-branch Blade (yin included) is 170 (8.5%), 80.6% of them strong. That is a ten-god / month topic, not this shensha row.

Day branch sits Blade in 9.7%. This site’s shensha row skips the day branch; read that under the spouse palace / roots.

Flying Blade (opposite branch) hits 24.1%. Both marks together are only 15.8% of Yang Blade hits.

How to read it

If strong, ask whether Officer/Seven Killings can govern the Blade. Peak without control is a sharper peer story — still secondary to Useful gods.

If weak, Blade is often help. Do not translate the scary name into disaster.

Year / month / hour hit shares are close (~8.1% / 8.5% / 8.8%); no pillar is “specially cursed” in this sample.

Two real charts

乙巳 乙酉 庚午 庚辰 (male, 1965-09-13 07:45 Beijing)

Month branch You is Geng’s Yang Blade; the chart is strong, Metal is unfavorable, and Officer/Killings are present. True solar time 07:35. Day Master Geng in a You month.

Support/suppress marks strong; Useful Fire, favors Water/Wood, avoids Earth/Metal — Blade Metal sits on the avoid side. Fire is available to drain and govern.

Read peak first, then control — not a blood-omen slogan.

壬午 戊申 丙辰 癸巳 (female, 2002-08-16 10:30 Beijing)

Year branch Wu is Bing’s Yang Blade, but the chart is weak — Fire helps. True solar time 10:11.

Useful Wood, favors Fire, avoids Metal/Earth. Same table, opposite reading from the strong chart above.

Shensha names the branch; favorability decides whether you want it.

Simulated charts: our BaZi calculator generated 2,000 random birth times (birth years 1950–2010 uniformly random, random birth time, half male/half female, Beijing true solar time), cast each chart and judged strength and the Useful element by traditional rules, then counted the results. These are simulated results, not a survey of real people and not a measure of prediction accuracy. Yang Blade checks year, month and hour from the day stem; yin stems use Chen/Wei/Xu/Chou. Favorability of the hit branch follows this site's Useful, favorable and unfavorable lists for that branch's element. Calculation version: our BaZi calculator after the Oct 15, 2026 update (the same rules the site uses now; rechecked with site version v73 on Oct 20, 2026), random seed 20261014. To reproduce: rerun the same version with the same seed and the results match exactly; you can check any single chart by entering the same birth time in our BaZi calculator.

FAQ

Is Yang Blade the same as Rob Wealth?

No. Rob Wealth is a ten-god; Yang Blade is a shensha table. Month-command Blade is a ten-god wording; this page is the day-stem year/month/hour mark.

Why do other chart write-ups give different yin Blades?

There is a reverse-yin school. This site’s appendix keeps Chen/Wei/Xu/Chou and uses the same table’s opposite for Flying Blade.

Does a day pillar sitting Blade count?

About 9.7% of charts sit Blade on the day branch, but this site’s shensha row does not check it — read roots / spouse palace instead.

Should I read Flying Blade together with Yang Blade?

You may compare them, but do not merge the names. Both together are only 15.8% of Yang Blade hits; read each hit branch’s favorability.
