Quick answer: On June 3, 2027, Saturn enters sidereal Aries. That begins Sade Sati for Taurus Moon and ends the main phase for Aquarius Moon. But Saturn returns to Pisces from October 20, 2027 to February 23, 2028, so Aquarius Moon's final end is February 23, 2028. Sade Sati is the roughly seven-and-a-half-year period when Saturn transits the 12th, 1st, and 2nd signs from your natal Moon. It is better read as a time of responsibility and restructuring than as a sentence.
What is Sade Sati?
Sade Sati means "seven and a half." It refers to Saturn's passage through three signs counted from the natal Moon:
- Rising phase: Saturn in the 12th sign from the Moon
- Peak phase: Saturn in the 1st sign, the Moon sign itself
- Setting phase: Saturn in the 2nd sign from the Moon
Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign, so the full sequence lasts about seven and a half years. Neighboring Moon signs overlap: when Saturn changes sign, one person's Sade Sati can end while another's begins. That is why 2027 is a turning point for several signs at once.
The phases describe different kinds of work rather than "good" or "bad." The 12th-house phase often brings expenses, foreign matters, or a feeling of wrapping something up. The peak phase puts Saturn on the Moon, which can feel like extra duty or a need to mature. The setting phase is often about rebuilding and finding a new routine. None of this is fixed; the dasha and the whole chart still matter.
Which Moon signs are affected between 2026 and 2030?
Four Moon signs are in Sade Sati at some point in this window: Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, and Taurus. The table shows the phase dates based on Saturn's sidereal sign changes. Times are in IST.
| Moon sign | Rising phase (Saturn in 12th) | Peak phase (Saturn in 1st) | Setting phase (Saturn in 2nd) | Final end |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aquarius | January 24, 2020 – January 17, 2023 | January 17, 2023 – March 29, 2025 | March 29, 2025 – June 3, 2027; returns October 20, 2027 – February 23, 2028 | February 23, 2028 |
| Pisces | January 17, 2023 – March 29, 2025 | March 29, 2025 – June 3, 2027; returns October 20, 2027 – February 23, 2028 | June 3, 2027 – August 8, 2029; October 5, 2029 – April 17, 2030 | April 17, 2030 |
| Aries | March 29, 2025 – June 3, 2027; returns October 20, 2027 – February 23, 2028 | June 3, 2027 – August 8, 2029; October 5, 2029 – April 17, 2030 | August 8, 2029 – October 5, 2029; April 17, 2030 – May 31, 2032 | May 31, 2032 |
| Taurus | June 3, 2027 – August 8, 2029; paused October 20, 2027 – February 23, 2028 | August 8, 2029 – October 5, 2029; April 17, 2030 – May 31, 2032 | May 31, 2032 – July 13, 2034 | July 13, 2034 |
Why do the dates go back and forth?
Saturn is retrograde for part of every year, so it does not simply march forward through the zodiac. It enters Aries on June 3, 2027 (05:28 IST; 07:58 Beijing), then turns back and re-enters Pisces on October 20, 2027. It re-enters Aries on February 23, 2028. This one movement changes the picture for four Moon signs at once.
For Aquarius Moon, the return to Pisces means a final stretch of the setting phase, so the real end is February 23, 2028. For Pisces Moon, it means a brief return to peak; for Aries Moon, a brief return to rising. For Taurus Moon, the new Sade Sati starts in June 2027, pauses in October, and resumes in February 2028. The pause interrupts the period but does not cancel it.
There is a second back-and-forth in 2029. Saturn enters Taurus on August 8, 2029, returns to Aries on October 5, 2029, and re-enters Taurus on April 17, 2030. That affects Pisces, Aries, and Taurus again, and is why Taurus Moon's settled peak begins only on April 17, 2030. Different end dates usually reflect the first crossing versus the final one. The final crossing is the more useful date.
Jupiter–Saturn double transit in 2027
A double transit means Jupiter and Saturn both occupy or aspect the same sign at the same time. Jupiter aspects the 5th, 7th, and 9th signs from itself; Saturn aspects the 3rd, 7th, and 10th. The combined influence is often used as a timing marker, especially for marriage, career, and major decisions.
| Period | Sign activated |
|---|---|
| October 31, 2026 – January 25, 2027 | Sagittarius |
| January 25, 2027 – June 3, 2027 | Pisces |
| June 3, 2027 – June 26, 2027 | Capricorn |
| June 26, 2027 – October 20, 2027 | Aries |
| October 20, 2027 – November 26, 2027 | Sagittarius |
| November 26, 2027 – February 23, 2028 | Taurus, Virgo, Pisces |
| February 28, 2028 – July 24, 2028 | Aries |
To use the table, count which house of your chart that sign occupies, from the rising sign or the Moon. The matters of that house tend to become active. This is not automatically good or bad: a strong house can bring progress, while a pressured one can bring extra demands. The dasha decides the tone.
Am I in Sade Sati?
Find your natal Moon sign, then check whether Saturn is in the sign before it, the same sign, or the sign after it. The checker on our Vedic chart page shows your Moon sign and whether Sade Sati applies.
Birth time matters most when the Moon sits near the end of a sign, since a small difference can move it into the next sign and shift the dates by about two and a half years. If your Moon is close to a boundary, confirm the birth time first.
How to read the period in a balanced way
Saturn is the slow planet of limits, effort, and maturity. Its transits show where extra responsibility lands, not where disaster must happen. Many people experience Sade Sati as a long stretch of work, duty, or rebuilding. Others barely notice it because the dasha and the rest of the chart do not emphasize Saturn.
Look at the house Saturn transits from your Moon and rising sign, the dasha in progress, and any strong aspects to your Moon. A period can be demanding without being harmful. For the other major transit of this time, see Rahu–Ketu transit 2026.

FAQ
Does Sade Sati always mean seven and a half bad years?
No. It is a period defined by Saturn's position, not a fixed amount of difficulty. It often brings responsibility, restructuring, and slow progress. How it feels depends on your chart and the running dasha.
Why does Aquarius Moon end in 2028 and not 2027?
Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries on June 3, 2027, ending the main setting phase. But it returns to Pisces on October 20, 2027 and stays until February 23, 2028. That final return is why the complete end date is in 2028.
Is Taurus Moon's Sade Sati starting in 2027?
Yes, the rising phase begins on June 3, 2027. It pauses from October 20, 2027 to February 23, 2028, then resumes. The peak starts on August 8, 2029, with a final return to rising before the settled peak on April 17, 2030.
Can I use the Moon sign from a Western chart?
Not directly. Sade Sati is counted in the sidereal zodiac, which differs from the tropical zodiac used by most Western charts. Use a sidereal Vedic chart so the Moon and Saturn are measured on the same basis.
