Quick answer: Rahu enters sidereal Capricorn and Ketu enters Cancer on December 5, 2026, and the axis stays there until June 24, 2028. Rahu moves backward through the signs, so it spends about eighteen months on one axis. The transit is not automatically good or bad. What it brings depends on the houses Capricorn and Cancer occupy in your chart, the dasha that is running, and the condition of the whole chart.
When does the Rahu–Ketu transit happen?
The nodes are calculated points, not physical planets, so different methods give slightly different dates. The table below shows the two standard values.
| Event | Date | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rahu enters Capricorn, Ketu enters Cancer (mean node) | December 5, 2026 | 22:32 IST; 01:02 Beijing on December 6 | The date used by FateClear's Vedic chart |
| Rahu enters Sagittarius, Ketu enters Gemini (mean node) | June 24, 2028 | 01:29 IST | The Capricorn–Cancer axis ends here |
| True node first crosses into Capricorn | November 25, 2026 | 17:46 IST | About ten days earlier than the mean node |
Rahu and Ketu move as a pair, 180° apart, so both change signs on the same day.
Why do some sites say late November?
The nodes are not planets. They are the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path. The true node follows the Moon's actual, slightly irregular orbit; the mean node averages out the short-term wobble and gives a smooth, steady motion. Because of that wobble, the true node can reach a new sign about ten days before the mean node, then slip back and forth near the boundary.
Here the true node first touches Capricorn around November 25, 2026, while the mean node enters on December 5, 2026. Sites using the true node print dates in late November; sites using the mean node print early December. Both describe the same axis. FateClear's Vedic chart uses the mean node, so this page uses December 5, 2026.
What does the axis mean for each Moon sign?
The table counts in whole signs from your Moon sign as the first house. Find your Moon sign, then read where Rahu and Ketu fall.
| Moon sign | Rahu house | Ketu house | Plain-words theme |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | 10th | 4th | Career and public role pull forward; home and inner life ask for simplification. |
| Taurus | 9th | 3rd | Beliefs, study, or travel widen the view; daily communication and habits get reworked. |
| Gemini | 8th | 2nd | Shared money, intimacy, and sudden changes surface; income and values need a steady hand. |
| Cancer | 7th | 1st | Partnerships and agreements come into focus; identity and self-reliance are reshaped. |
| Leo | 6th | 12th | Work routines, health, and service demand attention; rest, foreign links, and letting go grow. |
| Virgo | 5th | 11th | Creativity, children, and study take an unusual turn; friendships and long-term gains are reconsidered. |
| Libra | 4th | 10th | Home and family foundations shift; career and public direction are questioned. |
| Scorpio | 3rd | 9th | Effort, skills, and local communication speed up; beliefs and long-distance plans loosen. |
| Sagittarius | 2nd | 8th | Income and personal values are reworked; shared resources and hidden change come up. |
| Capricorn | 1st | 7th | Self-image and body are in focus; relationships and partners mirror the changes. |
| Aquarius | 12th | 6th | Rest, foreign matters, and inner work grow; daily work and health need attention. |
| Pisces | 11th | 5th | Networks and gains expand in new directions; creativity, children, and study detach. |
These themes are tendencies, not events. Rahu tends to amplify and create appetite in the house it occupies; Ketu tends to reduce, detach, and turn attention inward. Neither is a "bad planet" in itself. A house can gain energy and opportunity, or become noisy and hard to settle. Much depends on the planet ruling that house, the dasha in progress, and the rest of the chart.
Is this transit hard for everyone?
No. Two people with the same Moon sign can have very different experiences of the same transit. Three things matter most.
First, the house. Rahu in the 6th, 10th, or 11th house often corresponds to visible effort and progress: work, competition, service, network, and income. Rahu in the 1st, 4th, 7th, or 12th can stir identity, home, relationships, or sleep. The same transit is not equally intense in every house.
Second, the dasha. A Rahu period, a Ketu period, or a period of the planet ruling the affected house makes the transit far more noticeable. If the running dasha has nothing to do with the nodal axis, it may pass with only minor ripples. See the Dasha periods page for how planetary periods work.
Third, the whole chart. The nodes act through the planets they join or aspect, and through their ruler. A Rahu transit in a well-supported house behaves very differently from the same transit in a weak or crowded one. Accurate birth time also matters, because the rising sign and houses depend on it.
If Saturn is also moving through one of your Sade Sati houses during this time, the two themes can overlap. Our guide to Sade Sati 2027 explains those dates separately.
How to find your own Rahu house
Use the whole-sign method. Start with your Moon sign as the first house, then count forward until you reach Capricorn. That is Rahu's house; count the same way to Cancer for Ketu.
For example, if your Moon is in Leo, then Capricorn is the sixth sign from Leo, so Rahu is in your 6th house and Ketu in your 12th. No birth time is needed for this Moon-based count.
Many astrologers also count from the rising sign, which does require an accurate birth time. The two counts can differ, and both are useful. You can see your rising sign, Moon sign, and houses on our Vedic chart page.
What usually becomes visible
The Capricorn–Cancer axis puts structure and emotional security in the same conversation. Rahu in Capricorn pulls toward long-term plans, duty, reputation, and achievement; Ketu in Cancer loosens old emotional habits, family patterns, and ideas of comfort. This does not mean everyone will change jobs or move house. The topics simply become more visible, and the transit tends to reward patience and clear structure.

FAQ
Does Rahu in Capricorn mean bad luck for Capricorn Moon?
No. For a Capricorn Moon, Rahu is transiting the 1st house and Ketu the 7th. This can bring a strong focus on self-image, body, and independence, while relationships ask for adjustment. Whether it feels difficult depends on the dasha and the condition of the planets involved, not on the sign alone.
Will I feel this transit if Capricorn is not my Moon sign?
Yes, you can. The nodes are read from the Moon sign and from the rising sign, and they also affect the houses they rule. Someone with a different Moon sign may still have Capricorn on an important house in the birth chart.
Why do some websites give a date in November?
They are probably using the true node instead of the mean node. The true node reaches Capricorn about ten days earlier and wobbles near the boundary. FateClear's chart uses the mean node, which gives December 5, 2026.
Should I do something special during the transit?
There is nothing you must do, and no paid remedy is required. It helps to observe which area of life is asking for attention, keep plans practical, and avoid making permanent decisions in a rush. A transit describes a period of emphasis, not a fixed outcome.
