How to Read the Zi Wei Life Palace
Cast your Zi Wei chart →Free, no sign-up
Quick answer: The Life Palace (命宫) is the chart box that stands for you. Read its main star(s), borrow the opposite palace if it is empty, then read Migration, Wealth and Career with it (the classic four-palace set). Then open a free Zi Wei chart and match what you see.
Find the Life Palace
When you cast a chart here, the Life Palace is already marked from the birth date and hour. You do not need to compute the earthly-branch seat by hand. It sketches temperament and overall pattern. For what each of the twelve palaces covers, see the twelve palaces.
When there is a main star
- Name the main star(s) in the Life Palace — see the 14 majors.
- Note helpers and harmful stars in the same palace.
- Check the Four Transformations on the palace or its triangle — Four Transformations.
- Check whether the star is strong or weak in that seat.
Do not treat a star name as a moral label. The same Qi Sha life palace with support is not the same chart as one buried in harmful stars.
Empty Life Palace
No major star in the Life Palace is common and not a verdict. Borrow the main star of the opposite palace (Migration). Those charts often show stronger environmental influence. Still read helpers, harms and transformations.
The four-palace set
| Seat | Palace | Question |
|---|---|---|
| Self | Life | Who am I, at baseline? |
| Opposite | Migration | How do I show up outside / under change? |
| Triangle | Wealth | How does money move? |
| Triangle | Career | How do I work and aim? |
Suggested order
- Cast at /en/ziwei.
- Note Life Palace stars or the borrowed opposite star.
- Scan Migration, Wealth and Career.
- Note Hua Ji / Hua Lu on Life or the triangle.
- Later: decade luck.
FAQ
Is an empty Life Palace bad?
No. It means you read through the opposite palace and environment more.
Does a “harsh” Life Palace star mean a bad character?
No. It describes drive and style, not a score.
What if Body Palace and Life Palace disagree?
Life leans earlier patterning; Body leans what shows later or in chosen roles. Read both scenes; they do not cancel each other.
