What is Mercury retrograde?
A few times a year, Mercury appears to move backward across the sky as seen from Earth. It doesn't actually reverse; it's an optical effect of Earth and Mercury orbiting the Sun at different speeds. Traditionally Mercury rules communication, contracts, travel and devices, so retrograde periods are linked with misunderstandings, delays and tech hiccups.
Why Scorpio matters this time
Scorpio is about trust, deep feelings, shared money and things kept below the surface. Expect this retrograde to bring up:
- unfinished conversations and old grudges,
- joint finances: loans, partnerships, insurance, inheritance,
- second thoughts about who you can really trust.
The upside: it's an excellent window to review, close old accounts and get honest.
How to get through it calmly
- Read contracts twice. You can sign — just check every date and number.
- Draft important messages before sending. Tone is easy to misread.
- Build buffer time into travel.
- Back up your phone and laptop before upgrading.
- Lean into "re-" tasks: review, revise, reconnect, repair, renegotiate.
Which house does it hit in your chart?
The same retrograde feels different for everyone. What matters is where Scorpio falls in your birth chart: in the 2nd house it tends to show up around money; in the 7th, around relationships.
