AI BaZi Reading: Get the Chart Right, Then Ask AI

Cast your own chart →Free, no sign-up

Yun says: AI is a great conversation partner, but it is not a reliable chart calculator. Let the chart come from a real tool, then let AI do the talking.

Quick answer: When an AI BaZi reading feels off, the problem is usually not the interpretation. It is the chart itself. BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) depends on exact solar terms, the true solar time of your birthplace and a clear rule for the Zi hour. Ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar to work all that out from your birth details, and it may quietly build a different chart each time. Cast the chart first, hand the finished pillars to the AI, and ask it only to explain them.

Where AI Usually Gets BaZi Wrong

If you simply say, "I was born on this date at this time, read my BaZi," the model has to calculate the chart on its own. These are the steps that trip it up most often:

Where it goes wrongWhy it happensWhat it changes
Solar-term month changeBaZi months follow solar terms (jieqi), not the lunar calendar's first day. The switch happens at an exact minute.Anyone born near a solar term can get the entire month pillar wrong.
Year boundaryThe BaZi year starts at Lichun, around February 4 — not January 1 and not Lunar New Year. For January and early-February births, both the zodiac animal and the year pillar can be wrong.
True solar timeClock time is a political convenience. A US time zone is wide, so someone born in its western part can be 30–60+ minutes off true solar time.A birth near an hour boundary can land in the wrong hour pillar.
Which day the Zi hour belongs toThe Zi hour begins after 23:00. Traditions disagree on whether it counts as the current day or the next. On this site, it counts as the next day.The day pillar and hour pillar can both shift.
Recalculating every timeAn AI does not keep a fixed chart. It works the whole thing out again on each answer.Ask the same person's chart three times and you may get three different charts.

That is the real reason people say "AI BaZi readings never agree." Different charts produce different readings, even when the questions are identical.

The Right Order: Chart First, Questions Second

  1. Cast the chart on FateClear. Enter the birth date, time and city. The tool changes months by solar terms and converts clock time to true solar time for that place. Cast your free BaZi chart
  2. Turn the result into plain text. Copy the four pillars, the Day Master, the strength assessment, the favorable and unfavorable elements, and the current luck pillar from the result page.
  3. Give that text to the AI and tell it not to recast. Say clearly that the chart is fixed and it should only interpret what you provided.
  4. Ask one thing at a time. A career question should be about career. A question about this year should be about this year.

The result page has a "Copy chart for AI" button. It copies the chart as text, so you do not have to retype the Chinese characters or risk mistyping a pillar.

A quick note on terms: the Day Master is the heavenly stem of your birth day, and it represents you in the reading. Luck pillars are the ten-year periods that add new elements to the chart as life unfolds. Favorable and unfavorable elements are the elements that help or strain your Day Master, based on the chart's overall balance.

A Prompt Template You Can Copy

Here is a fictional example: a woman born July 15, 1993, at 8:40 AM in Hangzhou.

Below is my BaZi chart. It is already calculated, so please do not recalculate it. Interpret only this chart.

Four Pillars: Gui-You year, Ji-Wei month, Ding-You day, Jia-Chen hour (癸酉 己未 丁酉 甲辰); Day Master Ding Fire.

Luck pillars: starting around age 9, Geng-Shen, Xin-You, Ren-Xu... (forward sequence).

Day Master strength, favorable elements, unfavorable elements: (copy from the FateClear result page)

My question: Are the next three years a good time to change career direction? Give the conclusion first, then the reasoning. Point to the specific character in the chart that supports each reason.

That last instruction matters. Asking the AI to name the character behind each claim forces it to show its work, and it makes it much easier to tell analysis from invention.

How to Judge the Answer

Zi Wei Dou Shu and Plum Blossom Work the Same Way

Zi Wei Dou Shu has its own detailed rules: you must first locate the Life Palace and place the fourteen major stars. That is even easier for an AI to get wrong than a BaZi chart. Cast the twelve palaces with a Zi Wei Dou Shu chart first, then give the AI the Life Palace stars and the palace related to your question. Plum Blossom (Mei Hua) follows the same logic: generate the hexagram with a Plum Blossom reading, then ask the AI to interpret it.

FAQ

Can ChatGPT read my BaZi chart?

Yes, but give it a finished chart. It is much better at explaining pillars, elements and luck periods than at calculating them from a birth date and city.

Is AI BaZi accurate?

It depends on the chart. If the chart is correct, a careful AI reading can be a useful second opinion. If the AI calculates the chart itself, errors in the solar-term month, year boundary, true solar time or Zi hour can make the whole reading unreliable.

Why does AI give me a different BaZi reading every time?

Because it recalculates from scratch on each answer. Paste the same finished chart, tell it not to recast, and ask the same focused question. The results should become far more consistent.

What should I include in the chart I give to AI?

The four pillars, the Day Master, the strength assessment, favorable and unfavorable elements, and the current luck pillar. If you want to ask about a specific year, add that year's heavenly stem and earthly branch.

Is it safe to share my birth date with AI?

You do not need to share more than the chart. Leave out your name, phone number and ID. The four pillars alone do not identify you.
